Two posts from in one day !  You should feel honored!

I had two NSVs (Non Scale Victories) to share, I was thrilled when I realized that today is the day for the link up!

Background: I don't go to a traditional gym right now.  Our local "adult and senior center" has a bunch of rooms to take all sorts of classes: stained glass (my MIL does this one---amazing work!); belly dancing (my entire office did this one year!); woodworking, rock collecting. etc.  A couple of years ago, they put together a cardio room. It has 4 treadmills, 4 ellipticals, 4 bikes, and 3 all in one weight machines. (Plus a couple of other random pieces).  I've been paying $15 a month for access.  It works out well for me at this point.  I have never had to wait for an open treadmill, and I've never been there with more than 5 people at once.

On to the NSVs....

1. Most of the people who work out in the cardio room are at least my age (40 something), and many are senior citizens.  Today, was the first time I felt awkward.  A thin, young man (20 something) came in just before I started to run. (I was stretching.)  I almost didn't work out.  But I decided that it didn't matter, I wasn't there for other people.  So I ran.  and ran.  and ran (see #2).

2.  The big one!  I've been doing the C25K (Couch to 5K) program for a while. I have 4 more workouts left.  Today, I was supposed to "run 2.5 miles or 25 minutes".  Since I run slow, I knew I would not be running 2.5 miles in 25 minutes.  So I started my 25 minute run.  When my app told me it was time to cool down, I decided to keep running.  I ran through the cool down (5 minutes). And I kept running.  I decided I might as well finish 2 full miles.  I kept running until I hit 2 miles.  I RAN A TOTAL OF 35 MINUTES AND 24 SECONDS!!!!  Me!  The girl who could never run.  I did it! It was a 17 minute mile rather than a 10 minute mile. But I didn't stop. Not even once.  I ran the whole time.  (I'm a little bit excited!)

  1. Wow!!!! Congrats! Running for 35 minutes is amazing! Also, good for you for not letting other people get into your head and just kept going! Thank you for linking up and sharing!

  2. That's so awesome! Running for 2 full miles is a major accomplishment! Also way to go on working out even though you felt uncomfortable! I know that feeling well!

  3. Way to go! That's awesome!! I run super slow, too. I call it shuffling. That's a major accomplishment. Thanks for stopping by yesterday for the link up! Glad I could get by here this morning. Keep up the good work!

  4. lol i love that turtle pin! it is exactly how I feel, my sad 4mph "running" is the best I can do but for me, its running so that's all that matters in my opinion

  5. Way to go! That is an awesome NSV! And good for you for doing it even if you felt "awkward" at first. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'll be following you! :)

  6. That is so Awesome Julie! Congrats! It's amazing the C25K program. I am doing it too. I'm up to 8 minutes so far. I was surprised when I hit that even! So glad you didn't give up during your awkward moment! Good job!

  7. Congrats! That is a huge accomplishment!! I just started c2 5k and I love it so far! I hope I can do the same as you :) thanks for the motivation!

  8. Congratulations-!! I'm start the couch to 5k tomorrow.
