A major shift in my thinking
I've been working on getting healthy for almost 4 months. I've been running for about 3 months. For about a month, I've started to feel like a runner. Yesterday, I knew I was a runner.
I have a having a really bad day. (Major changes coming at work. We lost the state contract that pays for our program. We are hoping to appeal, but yesterday was very emotional.) When we got the news, there were lots of tears all around. We are a team, and we love what we do and the families we serve.
But here is where the shift came in. After we had our meeting with the big bosses, I want to go for a run. I NEEDED to go for a run! I wasn't able to go right away. But a couple of hours later I told my boss I needed to run. She told me to right then. It felt good to strap on the tunes and run. Unfortunately, I didn't check my schedule and someone called to tell me our three o'clock appointment had arrived. (oops!) I only got a 15 minute run in, but it helped. And I felt so good about my decision to run. I followed up with an hour of Zumba last night.
