When I started my C25K program back in January, I honestly could not see myself running a 5K. That's 3.1 miles. The first time I ran for 60 seconds, I thought I was going to die. After I did W1D1, it took 3 tries to do W1D2. And when I had to run 5 minutes---my lungs were about to explode. I dreaded W5D3, because I had heard about the 20 minute run---and I was terrified. There was no way I, at almost 300 pounds, was going to be able to run for 20 minutes straight---and live to tell about it. Honestly, with all my doubts, I'm not sure why I even started.
But I started. And except for the 3 weeks it took to do Week 4 (I was sick and also out of town during that time), I have kept on pace. I have 2 more runs (Thursday and Saturday) before I work on a running a full 5K. My times are nowhere near what the app says they should be. (2.5 miles in 25 minutes? Umm no.) But I am running. And I'm running farther every time. On Thursday, I ignored the voice in my head (well, in my earbuds!) that told me to stop running after 25 minutes. And I run 2 miles in 35 minutes. Again on Tuesday, I ignored the voice in the app that said, "Begin cool down". I was shooting for another 2 miles. But then my favorite song to run to come on. (Gold by Britt Nicole) so I kept on running. I ran for 2.25 miles (just a few seconds short of 40 minutes).
I'm a little late getting the link up posted, but here it is:
